Phone and tablet requirements

• Android 12 or later.
• Bluetooth Low Energy scanning, advertising, and GATT support.
• Nearby-device and notification permissions approved when requested.
• UWB is optional. Both paired phones must support compatible Android UWB ranging before Partner Finder can use it.

Samsung and Pixel

Partner Finder is primarily tested on recent Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel hardware. Samsung battery settings can delay background reconnect; the app includes guided battery-reliability checks without requiring those settings for local foreground use.

Distance and direction

Bluetooth distance is an estimate that should be calibrated at measured 3-, 10-, and 20-foot positions for the device and environment. UWB distance is more precise, but direction appears only when Android provides a valid azimuth. Some UWB-capable sessions provide distance without direction.

Wear OS

The phone companion is the authoritative source for finding data sent to the watch. Wear OS remains in closed beta until Play delivery, live arrow mirroring, stopping behavior, and battery performance pass release testing.

Experimental Wi-Fi fallback

Wi-Fi Aware/RTT remains a Developer-only experiment and is disabled by default. It is not part of the public feature promise.
